Rockstar has announced that they will be giving "GTA Online" players half a million in GTA$ as compensation for the numerous launch issues of the online game. The cash will be given to gamers that have played "Grand Theft Auto Online" anytime during the month of October. The GTA$ will be delivered in two deposits of $250,000 each in order to avoid destabilizing the in-game economy. Rockstar has not given an exact date when they will be dishing out the cash but said the first batch should be expected sometime next week.

The announcement Rockstar made about giving away GTA$ reads: For players who experienced cloud server errors, connection issues, and lost game progress and characters in these first days of GTA Online, we hope this GTA$ helps to facilitate a fresh start or makes your continued life in Los Santos and Blaine County extra sweet. As mentioned above to qualify for the GTA$ giveaway you have to have played "GTA Online" during October.

Meanwhile there is expected to be an update, 1.04, due next week that should fix the issue that's causing purchased vehicles to disappear. Since the games launch at the beginning of October "GTA Online" has seen launch issues from character deletion, server issues and launching issues.

Rockstar also announced that deleted characters are gone forever, the update reads: "For those asking about their lost characters or rank, those will not be able to be restored so we sincerely hope that this cash stimulus we're giving out this month will help you get back on your feet."
