Rockstar has officially introduced "Grand Theft Auto Online," which is set to release a couple of weeks after "GTA V."
The company says "GTA Online" will be "a dynamic and persistent online world for 16 players."

The game offers players a mish-mash of structured activities and roll-your-own distractions, such as launching dirt-bikes off mountainsides with your best friends. Players can play alone or band together and form Crews, which can then tackle group jobs such as bank heists and "classic online modes."
Money earned by successfully completing jobs can be spent on customizing your character, weapons and vehicles. Players can also buy apartments and garages. In the garage players can store cars, air vehicles and watercraft. Catch the trailer below.

Rockstar suggested that while this mode will initially be tied to "Grand Theft Auto V," the intent is that it grows over time, possibly to the stage where it becomes its own separate game.
In an interview with CVG, Rockstar North President Leslie Benzies said GTA Online will launch on October 1.
"It'll be GTA Online; it's not part of GTA 5. Obviously it's set in the GTA 5 engine, but it's going to grow and evolve into its own thing," Benzies told CVG.
