The "GTA 5" release date for PS4, Xbox One, and PC is slated for fall 2014. As the date steadily approaches, Rockstar has shared a new next-gen "Grand Theft Auto 5" trailer. Rockstar's latest trailer shows off a large variety of environments across Los Santos and Beyond to demonstrate the incredible visuals the next-gen consoles are capable of creating.
Initial reports speculated that Rockstar would simply port the existing game and simply bump up the resolution. To our delight, the latest "Grand Theft Auto V" trailer for PS4 confirms that the game has been completely reworked to suit the graphics rendering potential of the next-generation game consoles. To better understand how much better the graphics have improved, YouTube channel Digital Foundry have placed PS3 and PS4 GTA 5 footage in a side-by-side comparison.
From the very first frame, Rockstar has demonstrated the quantum leap forward from PS3 to PS4 graphics. Natural elements including sun rays, shadows, water, fog, and smoke look more natural and realistic than ever before. Trees have been redrawn to achieve a much fuller appearance. Foliage reacts more realistically to objects and characters in its surroundings. Object density has also significantly increased to show realistic traffic on the road and rich vibrant wild life in the woods. All in all, every little object in the new "Grand Theft Auto V" receives a couple of extra polygons to appear that much better. "GTA 5" did not only upgrade to real 1080p resultion, but took advantage of every extra pixel they got to produce the most beautiful GTA game yet.
Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima talked about the new "GTA 5" for PS4 in an interview with CVG last week. Kojima is readying "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" for PS4 later this year and is completely blown away by what Rockstar has accomplished in "GTA 5."
"What Rockstar has created and the world they have created is super impressive, and actually when I saw the PS4 version a few days ago I got depressed again," Kojima said. "And this is not game design-related it's just me. The quality that they showed in the PS4 trailer was really impressive."
The "GTA 5" release date for PS4, Xbox One, and PC is scheduled for later this fall. Stay tuned as we learn more about the next-generation "Grand Theft Auto V" in the months ahead.
