For some time now, a lot of people have been waiting for a new “Green Lanter” real-life film. The last one came in 2011 when actor Ryan Reynolds took on the lead role of Hal Jordan.
But for DC fans, a lot has changed since then. There have been new renditions of the Green Lantern, particularly by Jonathan Stewart. The change was seen in various animated flicks, particularly the Justice League animated series that came out in 2001.
Now, a film featuring the “Green Lantern” is set to come out. A trailer for the upcoming “Green Lantern: Beware My Power” has come out, a movie focusing on Jonathan Stewart, CBR reported.
The movie will tackle the origin story of Stewart. He will also be teaming up with other familiar DC superhero names such as the Green Arrow, Hawkgirl and more.
In the trailer, it was also shown how the transition from Hal Jordan to Jonathan Stewart takes place. Jordan dies in the war between Rann and Thanagar.
As for the main villain in the said film, it appears to be no other than the same character that was teased in the 2011 Green Lantern flick, Sinestro, the leader of the Yellow Lantern Corps.
In the plot synopsis, Stewart is a discharged marine who is at a crossroads in his life. He receives an extraterrestrial ring that grants him the powers of the Green Lantern of Earth.
However, Stewart tries to understand the power he has inherited. Making matter difficult is the fact that the ring comes with a baggage of interplanetary killers that is on a mission to eliminate every Green Lantern in the universe.
The plot seems familiar although it will be interesting to see how Stewart evolves from the storyline.
“Green Lantern: Beware My Power” is set to be released on July 26 and is rated PG-13.
