The shocking case of 17-year-old Mexican influencer Marianne "N," accused of repeatedly stabbing Valentina Gilabert, the new partner of her ex-boyfriend and father of her child, has left many in shock. However, what many didn't expect was that Gilabert is the grandaughter of the late Mexican actress Iliana de la Garza.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 5, in Park Pedregal, Mexico City, where Marianne allegedly attacked Valentina, leaving her critically injured. Authorities arrested Marianne, who remains in police custody, while Valentina fights for her life in the hospital.
Details of the attack
According to the police report, officers found an 18-year-old woman with severe injuries and bloodstains. Emergency responders transported her to the hospital with multiple stab wounds to her chest and neck.
Valentina's father, photographer Ernesto Gilabert, revealed that she suffered 13 or 14 stab wounds, including two in her left lung, one in her chest, another in her right lung, two in her neck, and multiple others on her head and hands.
She remains in critical condition at Hospital Médica Sur, intubated and in a medically induced coma. Doctors are particularly concerned about the possibility of permanent damage to her hand due to severed tendons. Her father has mentioned that amputation has been raised as a possibility.
Legal implications for Marianne "N"
Mexican lawyer Marcela Torres explained on TikTok that Marianne might not face any prison time since she is a minor. Although Mexican law allows for up to five years of imprisonment for minors aged 16 to 18, only specific crimes, such as homicide and femicide, carry such sentences. If Valentina survives, Marianne would be charged with attempted femicide, which does not legally warrant a prison sentence.
However, Torres suggested that if the charges were modified to "intentional bodily harm causing life-threatening injuries," Marianne could face up to five years in prison.
#JusticiaParaTodos #DerechoPenal #NoticiasEnRedes #SistemaPenalAdolescentes #marianne

Following public outrage, journalist Carlos Jiménez reported that authorities are currently pursuing charges of "intentional injuries" against her.
The Gilabert family's grief
Beyond the physical trauma, Valentina's family is enduring immense emotional pain. Her grandmother, renowned telenovela actress Iliana de la Garza, passed away on January 13 due to cardiac arrest.
Her father, Ernesto, who worked as the artistic director for singer Luis Miguel from 1981 to 1985, is devastated by the incident. The attack happened just two weeks after Valentina began dating José Saíd, Marianne's ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, following his breakup with Marianne five months earlier.
Family pleas for justice and support
Valentina's mother recently shared a statement on Instagram, urging continued prayers and highlighting the gravity of her daughter's condition.
"Her life is still at risk. She is in intensive care, intubated, and in a coma. We don't know what will happen," she wrote. Meanwhile, her family and friends are calling for blood donations to support her medical treatment.
As Valentina remains in critical condition, Marianne "N" remains in prison as the legal case against her continues to unfold, with public attention closely watching whether justice will be served.
