The Sony Playstation press conference at E3 was held on Monday night, revealing a number of exciting new details on the upcoming Gran Turismo 6, which is slated for a 2013 holiday release date.

While some video game sequels are overhauling the game engine and others are refining the title with safe improvements, game developers at Polyphony are working hard to tackle both ends for the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 6.

As was revealed last month, Gran Turismo 6 will boast a new HDR rendering engine that takes game graphics to an all new level of realism. According to GTPlanet, the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 will deliver an HDR dynamic range that is 50 times greater than in Gran Turismo 5. The new HDR rendering engine will prevent over-flaring and blackouts in frames that require extreme contrasts. Instead, the new HDR will create more natural blurring effects. Finally, the HDR rendering engine will enhance motion blurring to improve the gaming experience.

Polyphony is very excited about its latest partnership with Japanese tire manufacturer Yokohama Rubber and German suspension company KW Automotive. According to Polyphony, physics simulation in the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 will introduce complex algorithms that translate how tire compound, structure, and characteristics change under varying load conditions and surface changes. What's more, suspension actuation in Gran Turismo 6 will be the most realistic yet as precise shock absorber modeling has also been applied to the new physics system.

Beyond the new rendering and physics engines, Gran Turismo had even greater surprises up its sleeve during the E3 press conference.

With a special emphasis towards FIA GT3 category race cars, a number of new cars and circuits have been revealed on Monday.

First, Gran Turismo 6 will feature the very 2013 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 N24 Schulze Motorsport that was driven by Kazunori Yamauchi during the 2013 Nurburgring 24 hour race.

Other GT3 category racing cars will also include the 2011 BMW Z4 GT3, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, and the 2012 Audi R8 LMS ultra (Audi Sport Team Phoenix).

Arguably the most exciting entry into 2012's 24 Hours of Le Mans, the radical needle body Nissan DeltaWing will also be available on Gran Turismo 6. GT Academy racing driver Lucas Ordonez and his co-driver managed to clinch a 5th place overall finish at the Petit Le Mans race of Road Atlanta.

Finally, Gran Turimso 6 has revealed its production version of the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray as well.

Of course, exhilarating graphics and vehicles alone are not enough. After all, deciding where to go is as important as deciding what to drive.

Gran Turismo 6 will boast all new venues for drivers to race.

First, the Gemasolar plant of Seville, Spain, is a breathtaking field featuring 2650 reflector mirrors, each 9 meters tall and 2 meters wide, arranged in a circular layout. The area is enormous as Gran Turismo renders a track over the Gemasolar plant's 457 acres of land.

Next, California's Willow Springs International Raceway is a world renowned proving ground for time attack tuner cars. The Willow Springs International Raceway, which just celebrated its 60th anniversary this year, will have its many layouts available in the new Gran Turismo 6, including the 2.5 mile "Big Willow."

Finally, Switzerland's Matterhorn track will take Gran Turismo enthusiasts 3000 meters above sea level as drivers will tackle mountain roads along a sheer rock face. Gran Turismo 6 will demonstrate the power of its new HDR rendering system as the game delivers natural scenery of the Swiss Alps in all its glory.
