Fall TV is getting a new superhero tonight, Fox is unveiling it’s new series “Gotham” and fans should prepare to learn even more about the legendary Caped Crusader! The premiere episode will introduce many of the “Gotham’s” principal characters including a young Jim Gordon.
The synopsis of the pilot episode doesn’t give away any revealing details, however it states, “Rookie detective James Gordon battles villains and corruption in the premiere of this action-adventure series set in pre-Batman Gotham City." In addition to meeting the future police commissioner, fans will meet a young Bruce Wayne dealing with the tragic death of his parents Thomas and Martha Wayne. The episode will begin with the discovery of the murder, Gordon and his partner Harvey Bullock will investigate the devastating murder which is considered one of the most high profile cases that Gotham City has ever seen.
Considering the comic-book origins of this series, it should come as no surprise that villains, crooks and criminals will play a large role in the premiere episode. Fans will meet Oswald Cobblepot, Fish Mooney, Edward Nygma, Selina Kyle, who aside from Fish Mooney, are better known by their villainous names, The Penguin, The Riddler and of course Catwoman. Actor Ben McKenzie, who portrays James Gordon, revealed that The Penguin would be promtinantly featured during the premiere. "Because Penguin is front and center in the pilot, I'm really excited for people to see what Robin Taylor is doing with Penguin." Adding, "I have a weird soft spot in my heart for Nygma, I've always liked the Riddler, I know it's a very unorthodox choice, I know a lot of people hate The Riddler, but I find him really fascinating!”
“Gotham” premieres tonight on Fox at 8 p.m., fans can watch the pilot episode live or tune in online to watch via live stream at fox.com.
