Google has removed a Google Maps satellite image which showed an image of Kevin Barreras body after the young boy's father, Jose Barrera complained to the tech company. "When I see this image, it's still like that happened yesterday," Barrera's father told KTVU-TV in Oakland. "And that brings me back to a lot of memories." Kevin Barrera, 14, was shot in 2009. Police found the body on railroad tracks in Richmond, California on August 15th.
Google responded immediately to Mr. Barrera's complaint: "Our hearts go out to the family of this young boy ...," said Brian McClendon, vice president of Google Maps, in a written statement sent Monday to CNN. "Google has never accelerated the replacement of updated satellite imagery from our maps before, but given the circumstances we wanted to make an exception in this case." Google has said it could take up to 8 days to replace the image.
The image, which is sitll currently accessible on Google, shows a police car and four officers standing near the railroad tracks standing near what appears to pe a human figure lying on the ground.
