The Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update is now available for Google Nexus 4 devices.

According to ITProPortal, the update will fix a glitch that ditched December in the People app.

"The problem affected those who upgraded to version 4.2 of Android Jelly Bean," the site reported. "Users who tried to enter in a December birthday or anniversary in the People app were out of luck; it skipped right from November to January. It did not affect the Calendar app. Now, a small 1.1MB Android 4.2.1 update is rolling out to stop 2013 from starting a month early."

Google said the factory images for the various devices will follow in the next few days and 4.2.1 uses the same device-specific proprietary files as 4.2.

Android 4.2 might have been the Grinch that stole Christmas or a sign 'doomsday' is indeed looming in the coming weeks.

The software update has erased December and the calendar now jumps from November 2012 to January 2013.

"File this one under How did Google not have a test for this?" Android Police reported. "Got a birthday or anniversary in December? Sorry - Android 4.2 doesn't know what December is. Well, rather the People/Contacts app that comes stock and is part of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) doesn't. Wait... what? We couldn't believe it either, but it's true. Google forgot to include December. As in, there are 11 months in a year. January after November. Christmas is ruined. Santa is dead. At least we'll save money on buying presents, right?"
