A prankster's fake Aldi location on Google Maps has sent an "endless stream" of shoppers and delivery drivers to a remote Welsh village, creating chaos and confusion.

The trouble began when a local prankster added a false Aldi pin to Google Maps, marking a grassy field near Cyffylliog, Denbighshire, as a supermarket, according to Wales Online.

This rogue marker attracted unsuspecting shoppers and delivery vehicles using GPS to find the non-existent store. Despite locals trying to have the pin removed, the confusion persisted for weeks.

The prank reached a peak when a milk tanker, attempting to "deliver" to the phantom Aldi, became stuck on a narrow village road, requiring a rescue operation.

Meanwhile, holidaymakers and delivery drivers continued to flock to the site, further inconveniencing residents.

The incident sparked viral memes but also widespread frustration among locals.

After Aldi and local residents intervened, the fake location pin was finally removed from Google Maps. Additionally, Aldi confirmed it has no plans to open a store in the area.
