General Motors is recalling over 34,000 vehicles today after a problem was discovered in their transmissions. Automatic transmissions in 2013 models of GM's Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac SRX Crossover SUV models are being recalled after a software issue was discovered. While the manufacturer told the Associated Press that no injuries or fatalities have been reported relating to the glitch, GM warns that the cars may unexpectedly shift into "sport" mode without notice.
By shifting into sport mode, the vehicle is in danger of reducing any "slowing effect" on the transmission, which may result in a crash. GM will fix the issue beginning March 28 at no cost to the owner.
The official dates of manufacture are April 25, 2012 through March 6, 2013 for the Buick models and May 29, 2012 through February 8, 2013 for the affected Cadillacs. A majority, about 27,000 of the models, were sold in the United States, while the others were exported to Canada, Mexico and worldwide.
