It's going to be a fab night on Glee! Not only will we enjoy Sam's (Chord Overstreet) super toned physique, and Tyra Banks' gorgeous face, but we will get the amazing music of the legendary Billy Joel, since the New Directions are channeling the "Piano Man" in this new episode titled "Movin' Out." So what can we expect tonight? Well, Blaine and Sam will take a trip to New York City, which is where they plan to move after graduation. While Kurt is thrilled with the thought of Blaine joining him at NYADA, Blaine may have other thoughts on the subject.
Sam tanks his interview at the only school offering the only scholarship he could qualify for, so he confesses to Rachel that he will begin pursuing a modeling career. Cue Tyra Banks as "Bichette," the owner of one of the most prestigious modeling agencies. Although we might think Sam's already got the perfect body (remember his old stripping days?), Bichette actually wants him to lose 10 pounds. She gives him a few "tricks" which are actually diet pills and even suggested using a tapeworm.
When talking about her character, Tyra herself said it was a lot of fun, because it's all the stereotypes the models and agencies are accused of, and she added that she would never say those things in real life, as we've seen her remind us on her show "America's Next Top Model," where she makes sure her models are leading a healthy lifestyle. Tyra joins the long list of celebrities that have guest starred on the show, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Carol Burnett, John Stamos, Britney Spears, Kristen Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Ricky Martin, Molly Shannon, Olivia Newton-John and Neil Patrick Harris, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the show.
The official synopsis of "Movin' Out" reads as follows: "When Sue points out to an irate Will that the exclusion of any arts related career booths at McKinley's Career Fair is simply indicative of the fact that 'there's no such thing as a career in the arts,' Will is forced to concede the fact that choosing to be an artist is a path fraught with uncertainty. He strives to teach the gleeks the power of perseverance by assigning them the music of the resilient Billy Joel."
And Billy Joel himself is thrilled that his music is being interpreted by a younger audience. According to Perez Hilton, he said the following when told that Glee was doing his songs. "I heard about this. Honestly, I've never seen the show. I'm one of those guys who watches the History Channel, and I watch news and I watch documentaries ... but I'm very happy that my material is being done by people of that age group, and that I guess it has meaning for them ... I like hearing my material interpreted as many different ways as it can be,. I even like hearing it in an elevator or a fast-food joint. It's like, 'Hey, my kids are on their own now. They don't need Dad anymore.'"
Don't miss Glee tonight, Thursday Nov. 21 at 9 p.m. on Fox!
