Cory Monteith. That’s all that comes to our heads today. Tonight will be the night when “Glee” will officially pay their respects to Cory and dedicate a tribute episode to celebrate his life, after a tragic incident took his life. Of course the show won’t say goodbye to Cory the actor, but Finn Hudson, his character, the relatable jock turned singer and member of the glee club. Monteith died back in July after an accidental drug overdose, and Ryan Murphy and the creators of the series decided to address his death on the show as well, instead of making up an excuse of why Finn won’t be making an appearance anymore.
However, it has not been revealed if Finn’s cause of death will be the same as Cory’s, although earlier reports suggested that it was highly unlikely. What we do know is that some familiar faces will be returning, as former members of New Directions go back to their old high school to remember Finn. Everyone will be grieving in their own way, but per "Glee" tradition, Mr. Schue will encourage the group to "memorialize him in the way we do everything - by singing about it." Kurt, who is Finn's half brother, and Burt and Carole, will sort through Finn's belongings and bond as a family. Puck turns to coach Beiste to help him grieve and following a heart-to-heart, he decides to honor Finn's memory by making a life changing decision.
Santana will have issues hiding her emotions, and maintaining her strong and sometimes b*tchy attitude, and even has a confrontation with Bree, who is McKinley's "New Santana." And Emma's afraid that Will is too busy making sure the others are okay to make time for himself to grieve. As for Rachel, she's noticeably absent from the episode description and some earlier reports state that she will only appear at the end of the episode when she performs her incredibly heartbreaking rendition of "Make You Feel My Love."
"[The episode] was very difficult to shoot," Ryan Murphy said. "Those actors and the crew really loved Cory. They loved Cory. ...He was the most kind, the most generous, never a bad word for anybody. So I think what you will see in the episode is what really happened." Murphy went on, adding, "Almost everything in that episode is from the first take of every performance. The actors and crew had a really hard time shooting it. I've never seen a crew where you can't continue shooting it because they left the room sobbing.”
“It was very hard,” he continued. “I struggled working on it because what you're seeing is not just what people felt about Finn but Cory. When you write something like that there's no right way to do it. A lot of the actors contacted me and said, 'I loved him so much can I please be a part of it,' so we put them in. It was very rough. It was very rough with Lea [Michele], but I was very proud of it."
The show’s songs leaked earlier this week, and below is a list with the names, original artist, and who performs it on “Glee.” If you click on the name of the song it will redirect you to it so you can listen and enjoy it.
