HBO has announced the return of the chic and hilarious "Girls." The new season will premiere Thursday January 12 along with HBO's newest series "True Detectives" starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson and "Looking." "Girls" will premiere January 12 at 10 p.m. ET, which Lena Dunham made all the more memorable with a cute selfie announcing the premiere date on Instagram and the tagline, "We're comin' right back #GIRLS." Season two of "Girls" ended with Shoshanna and Ray's relationship quickly deteriorating while Marnie and Charlie reunite following a heated brunch. Meanwhile Hannah faced a lawsuit if she didn't finish her book and leaves Jessa an angry message and she and Adam reconnect. To say the least It will be interesting to see how the new season starts.
If you are unfamiliar with "Girls" we have only one question, "Where have you been hiding?" For those of you unaware of the HBO hit-series "Girls" the synopsis for the show is as follows: "Girls stars Dunham as Hannah Horvath, an aspiring writer in her 20s trying to navigate her personal and professional life in New York City after her parents discontinue their financial support. Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, and Alex Karpovsky co-star as Hannah's circle of friends, who are also trying to figure out their own lives and relationships."
Now would be the perfect time to get caught up on season one and two of "Girls" if you have missed any before the January 12 premiere.
HBO also announced the premiere of "Looking" which is essentially a gay spinoff to girls, kinda. The new show stars Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett and will premiere one week later on Sunday, January 19 at 10:30 p.m. ET right after "Girls."
The official synopsis for "Looking" reads:
"The series revolves around three friends in San Francisco who explore the fun and sometimes overwhelming options available to a new generation of gay men. Created by Michael Lannan and executive produced by Andrew Haigh ("Weekend") and Sarah Condon ("Bored to Death"), the show stars Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett. Special guest stars include Russell Tovey and Scott Bakula."
