“Orange is the New Black” actress Selenis Leyva got all dolled up for TV’s biggest and most glamorous night of the year: the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards. Hair stylist Tiffany Daugherty and makeup artist Mathias Alan (for L’Oréal Paris) made Leyva look even prettier. Tiffany’s vision, “was to go soft and full with texture to compliment the bold look and dress,” the artists explained. Check out the steps and beauty products they chose to use on the actress for this glamorous occasion.
HAIR – STEP 1: For the ultimate shine, she washed her hair with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Nutri-Gloss Shampoo and Conditioner ($4.99 each).
STEP 2: To create a long lasting look with volume, she sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Sleek It Iron Straight Heatspray ($4.99) on damp hair and blow dried it with a medium round brush. Tiffany then flat ironed hair to create volume to the crow section.
STEP 3: Tiffany went on to add texture and lift by spraying L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It High Lift Creation Spray ($4.99) to the roots focusing on the crown section.
STEP 4: To secure the look, she sprayed a ton of L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Strong Hold Hairspray ($14.99). For a touch of shine, she sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Nutri-Gloss High Shine Glossing Mist ($6.99).
MAKEUP – STEP 1: Mathias primed and mattified Selenis’ skin using L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur ($24.99). To prep eyes, he applied a healthy dose of L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Eye Renewal Eye Cream ($24.99) and allowed it to dry for about 30 minutes prior to applying foundation.
STEP 2: As a first makeup step, Mathias combined an array of shadows from L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude in 01 and 02 ($19.99) to create his signature sculpted lid and crease structure. He then swept a combination of Infallible 24Hr in Amber Rush all over lids, and Infallible 24Hr in Glistening Garnet on the highpoint of her lower eyelid for a shimmering ombré effect.
STEP 3: To complete the eyes and lengthen lashes, Mathias applied NEW L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Superstar Mascara ($9.99). He went on to line lids with a precise iconic black wing drawn with NEW L’Oréal Paris Superstar Liner ($9.99).
STEP 4: Mathias mixed a combination of L’Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Makeup ($10.95) – shades N7 and N8 with a foundation brush and applied all over the face.
STEP 5: Next, he blended L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in W101 Golden ($12.99) to add a bit of sheen to her cheekbones.
STEP 6: Selenis wanted a deep vibrant plum wine lip color to be focus of her look, so together they chose L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Le Matte Lip Pen in 108 Matte-r of Fact ($9.99).
STEP 7: Last, Mathias applied L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator in W02 Golden ($12.99) to Selenis’ arms, chest and neck for a light-catching glow, and finished the entire look off with L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray ($16.99).
