It appears that Germany was not the only winner at the World Cup Final on Sunday. Twitter announced that the match set records for the social media service, disclosing that that over 32.1 million tweets were sent during the final and an all-time record of nearly 619,000 tweets per minute took place as fans watched Germany prevail in extra-time against Argentina.
Twitter also announced that the average age range of people who tweeted were between the ages of 18-24 and that Argentina was the most talked about team during the course of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. To nobody’s surprise, celebrities here in the United States and those at the game in Rio de Janeiro immediately took to twitter before, during and after the game. Here are some of their reactions:
