George Bush, Bill Clinton Friends? 43rd President Gives 42nd Grandparent Advice

George W. Bush and Bill Clinton are on the verge of sharing another title besides that of ex-president, with the Democrat soon to become a grandfather and the Republican happy to tell him about what to expect. Bush, the grandfather of a little Mila, daughter Jenna Bush Hager's 16-month-old daughter, since April 2013, told Clinton at a bipartisan educational event in Washington what the experience of having grandchildren is like, resulting in a relaxed and touching moment between the two former leaders of rival parties. "Get ready to fall completely in love again," Bush said.

Chelsea, the only child of Bill and Hillary Clinton, announced that she was pregnant in April and is expecting her first child in the fall. "Get ready to be like the lowest person in the pecking order in your family," Bush added. These personal comments became a central subject of conversation between the two former presidents at an event held in the Newseum in Washington D.C. to present a leadership scholarship program cosponsored by the two men's presidential libraries along with those of George H.W. Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson.

Clinton received an unexpected call during the announcement, and excused himself of taking the call because, "only two people have this number, and they're both related to me," he said. "I hope I'm not being told I'm about to become a premature grandfather."

While conversing on stage, Bush and Clinton appeared to have good rapport, got along well, joked around with each other and even chatted a bit about their days as presidents. The Democrat revealed that Bush phoned him from the White House at least twice a year - and the pair talked for about 45 minutes - to get his opinion on issues facing the nation at the time.
"It meant a lot to me," Clinton confessed.
