The Gaza ceasefire will end and the "gates of hell" will open, according to an Israeli TV station who cited an anonymous government official as its source.

According to Channel 14, Israel will "open the gates of hell" on Gaza. The Times of Israel noted that Channel 14 is a pro-Netanyahu network and the only station Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given an interview with since 2021.

Essentially, the report calls into question whether the current ceasefire plan for Gaza will advance. The plan calls for an end to the current conflict over three phases. Israel and the Palestinians are still in phase 1, and the report suggests there might not be a phase 2.

In phase 1 of the deal, there is a complete ceasefire and an exchange of 33 of the Israelis taken hostage by Hamas in the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack on Israel. In exchange for the hostages, Israel is releasing about 1,900 Palestinian prisoners, the BBC reported. In this phase, Israeli forces pull back from populated areas, and displaced Palestinians return to their homes.

There are also provisions for aid and Israeli troops remaining in border areas.

Phase 2 is supposed to involve a permanent ceasefire, the release of the remaining hostages for more Palestinian prisoners and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, according to the BBC.

However, according to the report by Channel 14, Israeli officials will seek to extend Phase 1, allow the ceasefire to end and then possibly resume the war.
