Back in September, Azteca Network made the decision to get rid of their actress Gaby Spanic. Although her contract was set to end in December 2015, Spanic continued working with the Mexican network in the first months of 2016. Now, the renowned telenovela actress is suing Azteca for illegally terminating her contract.
"They paid me the month of January, but in February Azteca terminated by contract illegally and arbitrarily," expressed the actress to People en Español, explaining that Azteca renewed her contract after December. "I'm suing them because I'm defending my labor rights," she added. Spanic has been with the company since 2010.
Spanic, who claims to be very professional and hardworking, told People en Español that she did not expect this to happen and that she does not deserve it. "Gaby Spanic never rejected work and she was always the first one on set and the last one to leave," she said to the magazine. "They [Azteca] terminated my contract for other reasons that only they know."
People en Español reported that the case is currently being handled by her lawyer. However, many of her close friends are shocked that she is suing a big company. "I'm defending the rights of my son and mine," she said. "I'm not doing anything wrong, nor did I do anything wrong. I'm only defending myself," Spanic added, hoping that the case gets resolved in a friendly manner.
In 2015, TVNotas announced that the "Usurpadora" actress was fired allegedly due to her troubled personality. The Mexican publication reported that the real problems between Spanic and the network began when the actress joined the reality show "Baila Si Puedes," where she refused to continue with the recording.
TVNotas stated that Spanic left the show because she was not in accordance with the storyline and even granted her position on the show to actress Mayra Sierra. The poor action by Spanic caused execs to fire her from the network immediately.
Despite this scandal, Spanic revealed that she has received many work proposals, which will allow her to continue her trajectory in the small screen.
