Gabriel García Márquez' death has shocked fans all over the world and several celebrities have taken to social media to mourn the passing of the great Colombian author. Gloria Trevi has gone on Twitter to reveal to fans a story about an experience she had with Gabriel García Márquez where it turned out that he was a fan of hers too! The story took place on a plane, and the famed Mexican singer shared it in installments across her Twitter feed. You can read it below.
"I had always been a huge fan of his, well, my favorite book even to this day is "One Hundred Years of Solitude," but I love all his books! One day I got on a plane and I saw him in front of mi! My seat was just behind his! And I couldn't believe it. I wanted to greet him but I was super embarrassed, I was sure he wouldn't even know who I was. I was scared to greet him without using the proper grammar. But I wanted to so badly, to just reach out my hand and say THANK YOU!
So, just like when I get stage fright, I took a deep breath and I reached out my hand and said "I'm a big fan." I drew courage from the fact that I was sure he wouldn't know who I was, but he turned smiling and, with all the patience in the world, told me that at his home they are all fans of mine! And that they all sing "Pelo Suelto!" I took his hand, but didn't dare bother him again. Maybe he only said for compassion! But I spent the rest of the flight smiling from ear to ear."
