Two friends Suzy Hawkins, 40, and Joanne Green, 45, from England were pleasantly surprised when they got to know about their joint lottery win.
The two, who landed £30,000 ($41,335) each at the same time, are among seven Earl Shilton neighbors celebrating winning People’s Postcode Lottery.
The two friends were shocked when lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson presented their prize cheques, reported Mirror. Green said that she was shocked and didn’t expect it all. Hawkins found the win "pretty amazing," and said that "we’ve never won anything this big before!”
Hawkins said that they began to play the lottery after her dad’s neighbors won a prize. When Hawkins joined the lottery, Green did the same and said that she thought she can’t have her friend win and not her.
Hawkins added that the prize money came at the right time as she and her family are looking for a new house. She also said, “We’ve got a holiday booked for Florida which has been postponed for two years so we’ve got that next year for me, my partner and our four kids." They plan to visit Disney and Universal Studios and various theme parks, according to Daily Star.
Her friend thinks she will also have a family holiday. She and her husband got married 15 years ago in St. Lucia and they always said that they would love to go back. She might have to wait until next year for her holiday, but she hopes to go back to the same resort where she got married.
Johnson congratulated all the winners, and said, "This is what People’s Postcode Lottery is all about, friends and neighbors winning together!"
Another winner was Dawn Bennett, 63, and she wasn’t sure what she would spend her winnings on at first and joked that she is going to put the money in the bank and just look at it. Then she said that she will treat her kids, and would like to go to Iceland for a holiday with family. Bennett also said that she wants to treat her grandchildren with some of the winnings, and shared that her granddaughter would like to have a horse.
