'Fresh Off the Boat': Constance Wu Still Not Speaking With ABC President After Social Media Meltdown

Constance Wu and the ABC president is still not talking. The “Fresh off the Boat” actress made a weird faux pas earlier this year after the show got renewed.

Wu did something so bizarre that people really believe that she had a social media breakdown — it’s the only to explain why an actress who plays one one of the main cast of a show would diss it and be sad that another season is given a go signal. After the “Fresh Off the Boat” renewal was given a green light, Wu expressed her disappointment by the supposedly good news, putting her at odds with the other cast and the ABC president Karey Burke herself.

Burke shared however there’s no bad beef between the station and the actress. “I was happy that she apologized,” Burke said at the Television Critics Association press day, as repprted by the Wrap. “I’ve had no further conversations with Constance … I will see her at the table read. We have ongoing conversations with the producers and it was made clear to us very early on that everyone took Constance at her word that she was apologetic.”

On her part though, apart from apologizing, Wu did say at first that she was not pertaining to the show in her tweet. “That was not a rampage, it was just how I normally talk,” she wrote. “I say f–k a lot. I love the word. Y’all are making a lot of assumptions about what I was saying. And no, it’s not what it’s about. No it’s not..what this is all about. Stop assuming.” (This tweet is now gone.)

However, her explanation was quite hard to believe. After shutting out “assumptions” that she was upset in relation to the show’s renewal, she posted a comment on the series’ Instagram post about the news. She wrote “Dislike,”clearly, so this was harder to explain.

Ultimately, she somehow admitted why she could be resentful of the show’s renewal for another season. Apparently, the renewal forced her to pass up a film project she has a high passion for. She said she had “conflicting” feelings, loving the renewal but at the same time, “disappointed” because she lost the other job.

Despite all these drama and confusion though, fans can expect a good Season 6 of the show. Burke revealed that the whole cast is enthusiastic about this season.
