Back in June, former “Nuestra Belleza Latina” winner and “Despierta América” host Francisca Lachapel, announced she was divorcing her husband of nearly three years, Rocky Lachapel.
At the time, she explained that her profession had nothing to do with the break up and it was very amicable. "People separate, it happens to many,” she said to Sal y Pimienta.
“It's unfortunate, it hurts, it makes you angry, you don't know what to do. It's hard, but in the end you have to do what your heart says," stated Lachapel.
She also admitted that she and Rocky had been separated for a while, and she was afraid of publicly announcing it because she didn’t want to be judged.
The beauty queen went on to add that no one was at fault and that there wasn’t a third person.
After the announcement, people began speculating that their marriage failed because Rocky is gay and was only using Francisca as a cover-up. Others said that he was living off of her and even stole $75,000 from her.
But in the new TVyNovelas USA July/August issue, he comes clean and shares his side of the story. “I’ve seen too many comments,” Rocky said to the publication.
He added: “I’ve never even bought a soda with her salary. I want to make things clear, because people have been defaming even my family. Everyone’s saying that she left me because I’m gay. That is all false. I don’t know if people think Francisca is a millionaire because she’s on TV, but the life she leads is not like a super star. She’s never paid for anything I have.”
Rocky also revealed that things really fell apart on Valentine’s Day. He said that she was “acting weird” when she woke up and when he asked her what she wanted to do for the day, she replied that she wasn’t in the mood to do anything.
Eventually that day they got to talk. “She commented that she’d been wanting to talk to me for a while but she couldn’t find a way to bring things up. I tried my best to save the marriage but it was done.”
He even went on to say that he tried to be the best man he could during their marriage, and he always tried to do things right. “I left everything behind to continue to support her in her career. I left my life in New York, my work, my apartment, to follow her to Miami.”
