A Florida mother allegedly left her son at a hospital mid-CPR to evade child abuse charges along with her boyfriend.
Kimberley Mills and Andre Walker arrived at Advent Health Waterman hospital with her 10-year-old son in critical condition on February 22, Fox 35 Orlando reported. Mills was performing CPR, and Walker ran inside for help.
Medical staff discovered the boy had burns, bruises, and other injuries at various stages of healing, raising suspicions of ongoing abuse.
Before police could arrive, both Mills and Walker left the hospital, abandoning the boy as doctors worked to save his life. Mills returned later with another child but refused to provide details about Walker or how her son sustained his injuries.
Eventually, she gave up Walker's name to child welfare authorities. Mills was arrested for aggravated child abuse, and her remaining child was placed in state custody.
Walker remains at large, with police issuing a warrant for his arrest. The boy remains in critical condition at a trauma center, and police are actively searching for Walker, who may be driving a silver 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR5.
