A Florida youth coach has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage boy during a sleepover at his apartment, police said.
Ocala police arrived at Saddleworth Green Apartments Monday after 62-year-old Richard Hawkins was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old, authorities said. The victim, a family friend, had stayed overnight.
The teen later told his father he woke up in Hawkins' bed with his underwear pulled down, police said. He also alleged Hawkins tried to block the front door when he attempted to leave. Eventually, the boy was able to push past and escape the apartment.

The victim's father called Hawkins, who reportedly admitted the teen's allegations were true. Officers arrived at the scene and found an armed Hawkins outside his building. An investigation ensued, and Detective Thomas determined probable cause for his arrest.

Hawkins is a coach for youth athletes and a part-owner of a local children's entertainment and sports facility, per police. Concerned about the possibility of additional victims, police have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
"We take these allegations very seriously and are fully committed to protecting our community, especially our children," Ocala police said in a statement.
