Fisker has been suffering severe financial pressures for months now but it seems like the start-up plug-in hybrid electric company has finally caught a big break
Earlier this week, Fisker has announced that it has successfully acquired new equity funding in excess of $100 million, a healthy monetary boost that will allow the company to restart the development of its mid-size Atlantic sedan.
First unveiled at the New York International Auto Show earlier this year, the Fisker Atlantic is an essential part to Fisker's plans to expand in Middle Eastern and Chinese markets in the near future. Both markets have shown positive feedback towards the extended range EV Fisker Karma and by introducing the Atlantic as well, Fisker believes it will gain further exposure to growing markets.

Regarding the $100 million funding, Fisker CEO Tony Posawatz said, "This is another major vote of confidence in Fisker's pioneering technology and business model. We are grateful to both our investors and our initial customers who have supported our company and are quickly becoming our biggest advocates."
Optimistic about Fisker's path ahead, Posawatz adds, "The Karma is already a testament to U.S. automotive innovation and advanced technology and we intend to announce our production plans for the Atlantic and a timeline by December of this year."
Barring the funding holds and Fisker avoids running into any further obstacles, Fisker is expected to launch the Atlantic as soon as 2014.
