We finally have our first look at the film about the life of iconic Mexican singer Jenni Rivera.
The story of this Mexican regional music star has captivated audiences worldwide, as she overcame countless challenges to become "La Diva de la Banda"—a title she truly earned. It's no surprise that her life is now coming to the screen, courtesy of the streaming platform Vix.
Titled 'Jenni, la película,' the film explores different facets of Rivera's life, from her early days in the music industry to becoming a mother and businesswoman. The first trailer was shared on Vix's social media, accompanied by a caption inviting viewers to delve into Jenni's legendary life.
"How many lives do you need to become a legend? Get ready to discover the story behind the iconic Diva de la Banda," reads the trailer's description.
This brief teaser, under a minute long, features Mexican-American actress Annie González portraying Jenni in various scenes, from singing on stage to caring for her children. Interspersed with the words "Rebel," "Mother," and "Legend," the video perfectly captures Jenni's essence.
While the clip doesn't reveal much about the film's plot besides being about her life, this short glimpse has already thrilled Jenni's loyal fans, who remember the beloved singer who died nearly 12 years ago in a plane crash in Nuevo León, Mexico.
Directed by Mexican filmmaker Gigi Saul Guerrero, who is primarily known for her work in the horror genre, the project is a bold departure for her, presenting the unique challenge of bringing Jenni back to life on-screen.
Annie González, who portrays Jenni Rivera, gained recognition through the 2023 film 'Flamin' Hot,' directed by Eva Longoria.
Despite the release of this initial footage, Vix has yet to announce a release date. However, they have mentioned that, aside from streaming, the film will also be shown in select theaters, with more details to come.
The movie joins a lineup of previous productions that have chronicled Rivera's life, including 'Jenni: la vida de una Diva,' 'Su nombre era Dolores: Jenni, la que yo conocí,' and 'Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de barrio.'
With high expectations, this new film, which has been officially endorsed by Rivera's family, will soon hit theaters, offering fans the chance to witness the story that made Jenni Rivera a legend.
