USA Continues Strong Play
Thanks to strong play on multiple international levels, the United States find themselves back in the Top 20 for the first time in over two years.
Winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the fifth time in team history, USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsman and his squad are certainly looking forward to resuming World Cup qualifying play in the CONCACAF hexagonal since they're the present leaders with 13 total points.
"We still have a way to go to finish it all off," Klinsmann told ESPN FC. "The players are working double loads a day for training and they know what is expected of them as the World Cup is only a year away."
The United States is also riding a team-record 11-match win streak heading into their next contest - an international friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina on August 14 -- so it should come as no surprise that the red, white and blue once again find themselves in the upper echelon of the international soccer world.
El Tri Remains In Top 20
While the USMNT will surely be proud of their continued progress, the Mexican national team is probably just happy to remain in the Top 20 of the FIFA rankings after struggling mightily in 2013.
Bowing out in the semifinals of the recent Gold Cup thanks to a loss to Panama -- the team's second loss to Panama in a span of 17 days -- El Tri also continues to struggle in World Cup play.

Though they're currently in third place in the CONCACAF hexagonal behind the United States and Costa Rica, El Tri would certainly like to improve upon their standing in order to feel comfortable about their chances of qualifying for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
The top three teams from the group will advance while the fourth place team will enter a playoff with New Zealand to determine who receives an additional bid to the Brazil games.
