Laura Loomer, one of the most prominent hardliners of the MAGA movement, wondered if President-elect Donald Trump's base should "stay home" in the next election as she criticized a choice for the incoming administration.
Concretely, she was referring to Sriram Krishnan, a tech entrepreneur and former general partner at Andreessen Horowitz chosen to be a senior policy advisor for artificial intelligence at the White House.
Loomer blasted the choice, recalling that Krishnan is a donor of Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna. "Surprise surprise! An anti-Trump Democrat Congressman is backed by an opportunistic Indian tech bro."
"(Khanna) says he's proud to have Krishnan's support and mocks the influence of Trump loyalists having their concerns listened to by President Trump. Do you see how arrogant these people are? They want to replace our influence with Trump so we don't matter anymore," Loomer added.
"Is this how the base is going to be treated now? Should we stay home in 2026?" Loomer wondered. Her stance has catalyzed a flurry of online attacks, with supporters making reference to his ethnicity to reject his upcoming post.
David Sacks, appointed by Trump to be the next AI & Crypto czar, came out to defend Krishnan, recalling that he has been a U.S. citizen for years and his role will be circumscribed to AI. "He will have no influence over U.S. immigration policy. These attacks have become crude, and not in the holiday spirit," he said when rebuking one of the attacks.
"I completely trust Stephen Miller to handle immigration policy in the White House. What I oppose is a baseless witch hunt against a highly qualified American for a role as A.I. adviser," he added in another post.
Krishnan has not made reference to the attacks on social media, posting about other issues, the latest one being a holiday message.
