Luca di Montezemolo
Luca di Montezemolo Ferrari North Europe

What does it take to run Ferrari? It takes only the best president there is... and this isn't arrogance or conjecture talking. The European Business Press Federation (EBP), an association of Europe's leading economic and finance publications, awarded Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo the prestigious title of "European Manager of the Year" for 2012.

During the award ceremony, Luca di Montezemolo was honored for his many efforts since accepting the role in 1991. Montezemolo was responsible for the complete renovation of the Ferrari range, returning the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team to its winning ways, and transforming the Italian brand into a commercial enterprise, doubling revenue without selling out and losing the brand's mystique. What's more, under Montezemolo's watch, Ferrari expanded rapidly to become an international icon, present in 60 countries.

Montezemolo not only takes care of the brand, but the chairman also does a great job taking care of his people. The new facility at Maranello was designed around improving the quality of life for its workers. Now, the Ferrari factory is also a symbol of technical excellence. In fact, Ferrari's Maranello factory had already won the title for best Place to Work in Europe.

Comprised of the top 48 European business papers and magazines including The Wall Street Journal Europe, Handelsblatt, Les Echos, and Milano Finanza, the European Business Press Federation celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
