Ferrari 458
Expect the Ferrari 458 Scuderia to take from the track version Ferrari Challenge racing cars. Ferrari

The Ferrari 458 Italia is the holy grail for the purest of driving enthusiasts. A lightweight mid-engine sports car with a responsive 4.5 liter V8 producing 562 hp, the 458 Italia is so close to perfect that Ferrari need not change a thing. However, this is Ferrari we're talking about.

Just like the previous Ferrari 360 Stradale and 430 Scuderia road cars, the upcoming Ferrari '458 Scuderia' promises to be a hardcore special edition track car for the road. Slated to unveil at September's Frankfurt Motor Show, the 458 Scuderia represents the ultimate version of the Italian automaker's best-selling sports car.

Power output is expected to increase from 562 hp in the standard 458 Italia to approximately 600 hp. Behind the power bump, the tuned 4.5 liter V8 engine boasts a redline at 9,300 rpm, 300 more than the standard engine. Accompanying the increased horsepower is a reworked sequential gearbox designed by Getrag to produce even faster shifts.

Ferrari is looking to improve stopping power as well as Brembo will work closely with the automaker to create a new set of carbon ceramic brakes specifically for the 458 Scuderia.

Finally, Ferrari is a brand that loves to draw attention to itself. The 458 Scuderia will be fitted with a free-flow exhaust system that will provide the hardcore 458 with a louder, more aggressive, exhaust note.

According to LeftLaneNews, weight savings will be less of a priority compared to the 430 Scuderia. That said, the 458 Scuderia is expected to weight less than 2,900 pounds.

Stay tuned as we learn more about the upcoming Ferrari 458 Scuderia in the months ahead!
