Families have different traditions, particularly when their daughters get hitched. Over in Uttar Pradesh, this shocking act which was part of an honor killing is not for the faint of heart.
A father, identified as Sarvesh Kumar, did not approve of her 17-year-old daughter’s boyfriend and what happened next was savage. The father allegedly beheaded his daughter with a sharp object and walked publicly with the head in hand last Wednesday.
According to NDTV, the man was reportedly on his way to the police station after cutting the head of his daughter as part of an honor killing. He admitted to the act and said he was unhappy with the relationship between the daughter and her lover.
"I did it. There was no one else. I closed the latch and did it. The body is in the room," Kumar said.
Police were alerted of the man carrying a severed head and intercepted him. They were able to take Kumar into custody. The father also said that had he seen her late daughter’s mate, he would have killed him too.
Throughout it all, a police officer was not spared from being penalized. The said officer allegedly inappropriately carried the girl’s head and this resulted in him getting suspended according to police official Kapil Deo Singh.
We have also taken serious note of a photo that shows a police officer carrying her head inappropriately. The cop has been suspended," Singh stated.
Police were able to retrieve the girl’s body at the family home. It was immediately sent for a post-mortem examination. A video of the man carrying the head of the girl can be found here. Viewer discretion is advised.
