A robbery occurred on Tuesday at a McDonald’s restaurant located in the 22000 block of Cypresswood Drive in Spring, Texas.
An employee, identified as Nicholas Brinkman was held at gunpoint by an unknown robber at the drive-thru window. The suspect took all the money inside the register and then fled per reports.
But it appears there was something more to the crime. Surveillance videos allegedly showed Brinkman staging the entire robbery and had planned to split the money afterward according to deputies of the Harris County 4 Constable Office.
Brinkman later admitted to the crime and was arrested. He was booked at the Harris County Jail and is now facing aggravated battery charges. No bond has been set.
"Nicholas Brinkman was arrested and booked in the Harris County Jail, charged with Aggravated Robbery. His bond and court have not been set at this time," Constable Mark Herman said in a statement.
The second suspect has yet to be positively identified and apprehended by authorities.
The incident is the latest of McDonald’s robbery incidents so far. Last month, there was a man who robbed a different McDonald’s branch in the Bronx area.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) sought the help of the public in identifying the perpetrator. The thief reportedly approached a female employee and took $52 from the register on April 20.
It appears that the same man did the same on another McDonald’s place at 925 Hunts Point Avenue in Foxhurst. The incident reportedly took place at around 1:15 a.m. on Apr. 26 and the suspect fled with $109 from the register.
The suspect who has yet to be identified continued to do the same in other stores. That included a Family Dollar Store at 1315 Boston Road in Morrisania where he pulled a knife on a 24-year-old female employee. He took $219 from the register and then left.
Other incidents happened from there, the last of which was on June 14 at a McDonald's at 2870 3rd Avenue in the South Bronx. He once again used a knife and took $105 from the register.
The NYPD has released images of the suspect are seeking the public’s help to apprehend him.
