"Fast and Furious" star Vin Diesel has been extremely busy promoting the film lately as we are just days from the "Furious 7" release date on April 3! During an appearance on Monday's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Vin dropped a bombshell about the upcoming "Fast and Furious 8."
"I always think of these films multiple pictures in advance," Vin Diesel explained. "I think of them as trilogies. So Kurt Russell came in for this movie, but he was really hired because of a story that follows this, that takes place in New York."
In "Furious 7," Kurt Russell's character is introduced as "Mr. Nobody," a mysterious double agent who is trying to steal a dangerous secret weapon. Not only do we look forward to understanding how Russell's character will evolve in the franchise, bringing the story to New York City will definitely be a milestone for a franchise that took place predominantly in Los Angeles.
Geographically speaking, the claustrophobic New York City landscape plays as a stark contrast to the wide open LA freeways. In the latest "Furious 7," director James Wan created a jaw-dropping scene in Abu Dhabi that featured the super-exotic Lycan Hypersport jumping out from one building into another before finally skidding out of the other end (this isn't a spoiler, you have all seen the trailers). Obviously the "building jump" stunt will be hard to top, but we can all agree that the New York City skyline will definitely be capable of delivering a little extra.
Kurt Russell's acting career highlights include films like "Big Trouble In Little China" and "3000 miles to Graceland." Russell also played as the crazed villain Stuntman Mike in Quintin Tarantino's "Death Proof." Other new cast members in "Furious 7" include the main villain Jason Statham, actress Nathalie Emmanuel from “Game of Thrones,” mixed-martial artist Ronda Rousey, actor Djimon Hounsou from “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and martial artist Tony Jaa from the cult “Ong-bak” series.
"Furious 7" stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Lucas Black from "Tokyo Drift," and finally the late Paul Walker. "Furious 7" arrives in theaters April 3.
