Buzz around The Fast and The Furious franchise has been lying dormant since 2011 but now it's back with a bang.
The sixth installment in the franchise will be released in theaters later this year and a debut trailer is slated to air during the Super Bowl on Sunday. In fact, Collider.com has leaked the sypnosis of The Fast and The Furious 6 movie this morning. Let's jump right into it.
In Fast 5, Dom and Brian, played by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker respectively, managed to take down a kingpin and ran away with $100 million that was split amongst the crew. Picking up where Fast 5 left off, Universal promises that Dom, Brian, and Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), and the rest of the core cast will return for the new movie.
Despite their newfound fortune, the crew has been scattered across the globe as fugitives, unable to return home.
Over on Hobbs end, a series of incidents have caused him to track an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries. Who's behind the mess? Apparently, Owen Shaw, played by Luke Evans, is the mastermind behind the heists and its Letty, played by Michelle Rodriguez, who is the ruthless second-in-command. If you recall, Dom thought Letty was killed in the last movie!
Now, the only way to stop the new criminal outfit is to pit them against an equally formidable crew, so Hobbs reaches out to Dom to assemble his team in London. What will Dom get in return? Hobbs promises to drop all charges and allow Dom to return home.
Other members of the cast that will return for The Fast and The Furious 6 include Gina Carano, Elsa Pataky, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Tyrese Gibson, and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges.
