A 23-year-old from Nogales, Mexico committed suicide after announcing his intent to do so via Facebook. Alexis Omar Balderrama Gutiérrez posted a Facebook status to his friends, then shot himself in the head with the very gun depicted in his most recent photo upload, El Universal reported. He had just celebrated his birthday last week.
"I can't do this anymore, friends. I give up. Take care of yourselves. To my family, above all else, I love you. Forgive me, mom and my son," Gutierrez wrote before shooting himself on the couch in his home.
Officers found the man on his couch with the gun placed nearby. While they assisted the family in trying to revive Gutierrez, there was nothing they could do and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police found four .40 clips in his vehicle and one in his home, which he used in the suicide. Gutierrez is said to have been having a "difficult week," as he posted on Facebook several times about being depressed and physical ailments, though he often said he would have a happy life with "women and beer."
Reports say that Gutierrez fired two shots into the air outside of his home before going inside and killing himself. His Facebook has since filled with comments lamenting his death.
