Ex-UK Leader: There Was a Listening Device in My Toilet After Netanyahu Used It

Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed that his security team found listening equipment in his personal bathroom after it was used by Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli Prime Minister visited the British Foreign Office in 2017, when Johnson was Britain's foreign secretary. In excerpts from Johnson's new memoir, titled "Unleashed", released to The Telegraph, he alleges that his security team located a listening device in his bathroom after Netanyahu used it.

"Thither Bibi repaired for a while, and it may or may not be a coincidence but I am told that later, when they were doing a regular sweep for bugs, they found a listening device in the thunderbox," Johnson wrote.

In 2019, Israel faced similar accusations of planting listening devices within the White House. POLITICO reported that cellphone surveillance devices were located in sensitive locations around Washington, including within the White House. Washington officials believe that Israel was likely behind their placement.

Though the devices were probably intended to spy on then-President Donald Trump, the Trump administration did not reprimand the Israeli government for the devices.

Johnson continues to describe his 2017 meeting with Netanyahu in his memoir, writing that he felt like "Willy Wonka" as he showed the Israeli Prime Minister around the British Foreign Office.

The memoir has raised eyebrows for other controversial claims and incidents it shares, including an accusation that French President Emmanuel Macron tried to give the UK a "punishment beating" for leaving the EU, as well as details about the health conditions of the late Queen Elizabeth II just before she died.
