Guitarist Marc Piovanetti, who played with thrash metal band Carnivore in the '80s, was arrested in New Jersey for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

Piovanetti, 58, and his wife, Jennifer, 50, both face criminal charges related to the incident, according to prosecutors.

"The New York City Police Department notified the Fort Lee Police Department about a missing child from New York City who was believed to be in the Fort Lee, NJ area. The Fort Lee Police Department located the child, who was between the ages of thirteen and sixteen, in the company of Marc Piovanetti and Jennifer Piovanetti," a press release states.

Prosecutors allege that Piovanetti did not know the victim but began communicating with the child on a social media application. They made arrangements to meet and prosecutors contend that Piovanetti supplied the child with marijuana and sexually assaulted the victim sometime between Feb. 22 and 23.

Marc Piovanetti was charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault, second-degree luring, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Jennifer Piovanetti was at home at the time of the incident and, according to prosecutors, "she was aware of the child's presence, along with another child under the age of thirteen who was also there." She was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Marc Piovanetti has been a registered sex offender since 2017, when he was sentenced to 10 years probation for an incident with a child under fifteen years old. His music career included playing for Carnivore from 1985 until 1990, and for Crumbsuckers from 1988 until 1991, Vice reported.
