After a 17-year hiatus from television, Angélica Rivera, famously known as "La Gaviota," has stunned fans with the announcement of her return to the entertainment world. The news was revealed on the Mexican TV show 'Hoy,' where not only was her comeback confirmed but the first teaser of her new project was also unveiled.

The upcoming series, titled 'Con esa misma mirada,' is said to be inspired by the successful Colombian novel 'Señora Isabel,' which has already seen multiple Mexican adaptations, starting with the iconic 'Mirada de Mujer,' starring Angélica Aragón.

The 1993 and 1997 productions told the story of a woman abandoned by her husband for a woman 20 years younger. As she navigates her pain and new marital status, she also rediscovers love with a younger man.

The teaser shared on the morning show 'Hoy' lasts less than 20 seconds and offers the first glimpse of the former Mexican First Lady in her new role. In this adaptation, Angélica plays a woman dealing with her husband's indifference and abandonment, leading her to uncover a new chapter in her life.

"After a painful betrayal and separating after 25 years of marriage, a woman must reevaluate her life, rediscover her dreams, love, and sensuality with a younger man," explained Andrea Escalona while discussing the show's premise.

Although no release date has been announced for the streaming platform Vix, some of the cast members have been revealed. Joining Angélica in her much-anticipated return are Iván Sánchez, Ivanna Castro, Nicolás Haza, and her daughter, Sofía Castro.

Angélica's last appearance in a telenovela was in 2007, when she portrayed Teresa Hernández García, "Gaviota," in the hit series 'Destilando Amor.' Afterward, she stepped away from television and married Enrique Peña Nieto in 2010, who served as Mexico's president from 2012 to 2018.

The 55-year-old actress began her career in 1988 with the youth telenovela 'Dulce Desafío' and went on to star in productions like 'Simplemente María,' 'Mujer, casos de la vida real,' 'La Dueña,' and 'Mariana de la noche,' where she played her first antagonistic role.

Angélica Rivera's return marks the comeback of one of Mexican television's most beloved figures. With this announcement, anticipation for 'Con esa misma mirada' is steadily growing, and more details about the series are expected in the coming days.
