Evan Rachel Wood In Her Documentary Alleges Marilyn Manson Raped Her On Camera

The first part of Evan Rachel Wood’s two-part documentary ‘Phoenix Rising’ was premiered at Sundance Film Festival. The documentary follows the actress’ childhood, abusive relationship with rockstar Marilyn Manson and her activism against domestic violence. Details shared in the documentary further add to the sexual abuse allegations against Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner.

Directed by Academy Award and Emmy-nominated filmmaker, Amy Berg, ‘Phoenix Rising’s first part was premiered on Sunday, Jan. 23. While only the first part was premiered at the film festival, the entire documentary is set to air on HBO in March.

In the documentary Wood recalled the shooting of Manson’s 2007 music video for the song ‘Heart-Shaped Glasses’. The song used the imagery of heart-shaped glasses which was made infamous by the poster of Stanley Kubrick’s 1962 film Lolita, Rolling Stones pointed out. The film was based on Vladimir Nabokov’s novel about a man’s infatuation with an underaged girl.

The music video featured Manson and Wood engaging in sexual intercourse while blood rained down on them. The sex scene was supposed to be simulated. However, in the documentary Wood shared, “once the cameras were rolling, he started penetrating me for real. I had never agreed to that.” She stated that she felt unsafe and the crew present were uncomfortable with what was going on as well.

“I was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretenses,” Wood added. “That’s when the first crime was committed against me. I was essentially raped on-camera.”

The actress also shared that Manson had given her strict instructions on what to tell the media about the shooting of the video. She claimed that he vetted her to say that the shooting had been a romantic experience.

In ‘Phoenix Rising’ Wood also shared details of how Manson shamed her for being Jewish. He even wrote ‘kill all the Jews’ on the couple’s bedroom wall, New York Post reported.

Wood and Manson had met when the actress was just 18-years-old and the musician was 38-years-old. Manson was married to Dita Von Teese at the time yet he continued to pursue Wood romantically. Wood and Manson dated for nearly five years during which the actress claims that they committed acts of self-mutilation to prove their loyalty.

Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the sexual abuse allegations against Mansion by Wood and over a dozen other victims.
