Lionel Messi may be playing across the Channel. Spanish newspaper El Confidencial published news that the Argentine soccer legend is the subject of a tremendous bid by English Premier League team Manchester City. City has offered to pay 200 million Euros ($260 million US) to Barcelona to perform the transfer and has offered Messi a contract of $25 Million per year. Messi has not yet commented on the bid, but his father and manager Jorge Messi has been contacted over the arrangement.
Reports have emerged that Lionel Messi's teammates are unhappy with his attitude in the team. According to his fellow players, the genius Argentine has been absent minded and unfocused from the game. There has also been tension in the lockerroom over the tax evasion cases he is currently facing. Messi may indeed benefit from a team change to benefit what has already been a stellar career. Messi could be playing for Manchester City as early as next year.
According to El Confidencial, Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan's main goal is bringing Messi to the Premier League, and he is planning to meet his €200m buy-out clause. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the four-time Balon d'Or winner as they contemplate losing the star Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Yet despite their huge buying powerf, the French club faces the isue of France's 75 percent tax rate.
