A young Indian man, who was reportedly depressed over not finding a suitable job, allegedly killed himself by jumping in front of a speeding train in Secunderabad, reports said.
The victim, 30-year-old KG Maheshwar Reddy, an engineering student from the Kadapa village in Andhra Pradesh, had come to the city a few months ago and was trying to secure a job while staying in a rented house in Bhoiguda, according to local media reports.
On Sunday, Aug. 14, Reddy was found dead on the railway tracks near the Secunderabad Railway Station.
The incident came to light after the loco pilot of a train, which passed on the adjacent tracks a few minutes later, spotted the mutilated body lying near the tracks.
"Prima facia it appears to be a case of suicide and the viscera has been preserved," a police official said.
The young man was fighting depression after his attempts to find a job repeatedly failed due to unknown reasons, reports said.
It was also reported that Reddy was also dealing with serious financial problems due to his unemployment.
It is unclear if a suicide note has been recovered by the investigators. The body was sent to a medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause of death.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is underway, police said.
LT reported a similar incident on July 20, when a fireman allegedly ended his life after representatives of an online loan app repeatedly "harassed" him over the repayment of borrowed money.
The 33-year-old unidentified man's mutilated body was found on the tracks near a railway station in Hyderabad city, the Indian Railway police said on Tuesday, July 19.
For reasons that remained unclear, the unnamed victim had taken loans from the instant loan apps, but was unable to repay them due to some financial problems, police said.
Because of this, the operators of the loan app started calling the victim’s family and friends to get him to pay back the balance. However, the move embarrassed the young man to his peers.
Instead of paying back the loan, the victim allegedly took drastic measures to get out of the situation.
