Emma Stone Finally Engaged To 'SNL' Writer And Director Dave McCary

Wedding bells are finally ringing for Emma Stone and Dave McCary. McCary shared the happy news on Wednesday night after sharing on Instagram a blurry snap of McCary and herself wearing her vintage-style engagement ring.

In the photo, McCary was donning a classic black turtleneck and Emma Stone a white silk t-shirt. Details of the proposal are still under wraps, but one thing is for sure: Stone’s ring is the most unique celebrity engagement ring there is, as it features a gorgeous silver pearl set than the typical diamond.

Stone and McCary have been an item since 2017 but they have kept things fairly low key since they started dating. Reports of their budding romance emerged in late 2017, when fans spotted them having dinner together at a New York City restaurant. According to insiders, McCary and Stone connected when the “La La Land” star hosted “Saturday Night Live” in April 2017 and appeared in the “Wells for Boys” sketch, which McCary directed.

McCary is a segment director and writer for the long-running American show “Saturday Night Live” but working behind the cameras doesn’t make him any less attractive than the dashing Romeos of Hollywood. No wonder saying yes to him the first time he invited her for dinner was a no-brainer for Stone.

After the Oscar-winning actress hosted the April 13 episode of SNL, she and McCary have made joint public appearances multiple times. Stone also showed her support for her beau, a two-time Emmy nominee, when she attended the premiere of his feature directorial debut “Brigsby Bear” in July 2017.

Before dating McCary, Stone was in a four-year relationship with British-American actor Andrew Garfield. They parted ways in 2015 but have remained close friends since then. In fact, in May 2017, around the time that Stone and McCary started dating, Stone visited Garfield in London while he was filming the 25^th anniversary revival of “Angels in America.”

“There was no drama, they’ve been apart while working,” a source told PEOPLE following their split. “They still care about each other. They still have love for one another. They are on good terms with each other and remain close,” the source added.
