Longtime comic book fan Eminem partners once again with Marvel Comics for another comic collaboration with the limited-edition AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2022) #1 variant cover! The Eminem - Spider-Man collaboration has comic fans and collectors going wild trying to get their hands on a copy literally crashing the second selling on the exclusive site. Marshall Bruce Mathers III, known professionally as Eminem - critically acclaimed as one of the greatest rappers of all time, has graced the covers of many comic book variants.
On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, hustl. agency revealed that Eminem will be joining your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man for a limited edition comic book cover variant in celebration of the The Amazing Spider-Man #1, which was released in stores in April, via Billboard. Created by Salvador Larroca in association with hustl., this AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2022) #1 variant cover puts Marshall Mathers, AKA Eminem, on stage with the web-slinger Peter Parker.
The legendary rapper shared the first look at the cover via Twitter and Instagram on Monday, which features him in a hooded sweatshirt rap battling against the superhero with a crowd — including Miles Morales in the front row — engaging in the moment as a homage to his epic 8 Mile battles. Other notable Marvel Universe characters you can spot in the crowd include Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Ghost-Spider Aka Spider-Gwen, cheering them on. Wearing headphones and grasping a mic, Spider-Man watches Eminem freestyle.
Only 5,000 print copies were available for purchase on Eminem.com, which sold out instantly. An additional 1,000 limited print run of the spotlight version of the original variant comic cover was available for purchase on Tuesday, November 29, on TheHaul.com crashing the site instantly.
"I've always been a huge Spider-Man fan since I was a kid," Eminem shared. "He's definitely in my top 5… So being on a cover battling Spider-Man is such a thrill and an honor."
“It’s truly an honor to be able to bring Eminem and Spider-Man to fans slinging raps on this official Marvel variant cover. There is no doubt that fans lucky enough to find themselves holding one of these will possess a highly sought-after collectible,” added Keri Harris, hustl. COO.
Paul Rosenberg (CEO of Def Jam) and long-time friend of Marshall, adds that the idea came from The Haul, an agency that amalgamates the comic world with real-life popular culture. For instance, they brought The Notorious B.I.G. to the Deadpool cover and football star Saquon Barkley to Black Panther. According to Paul, Marshall did not hesitate to consent.
The variant cover was created by Salvador Larroca and Edgar Delgado. This is Larroca’s second time working on the Eminem project, in 2009 he was part of the unique team up between Marvel Comics and the hip hop magazine XXL for the “Eminem and the Punisher” issue. (No reprints or digital editions of this project have ever been released).
