One of the most iconic figures in 20th-century pop culture would have turned 90 years old on Wednesday. To honor Elvis Presley's legacy, we take a trip to his beloved Graceland, where he lived for over 20 years. Now the most-visited house museum in the world, it holds a special place in both the history of the U.S. and music around the world.

The superstar purchased his dream home in 1957 to live with his parents, Vernon and Gladys Presley. He remained there until his death in August 1977, passing away in his bedroom bathroom.

Presley bought the famous home at just 22 years old for $100,000. Shortly after Priscilla moved in, and their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was born. Elvis' father initially inherited it after Elvis' death, with Lisa Marie taking over it at the age of 25.

Lisa Marie's son, Benjamin Keough tragically took his own life in 2020 at the age of 27. Lisa Marie passed away in 2023 at the age of 54 due to complications from a prior bariatric surgery.

Graceland, located in Memphis, TN, is currently owned by Presley's eldest granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, following a legal dispute with her grandmother Priscilla.

How much is Graceland worth today?

Twenty years after Elvis's death, the mansion was valued at around $5 million. Its worth has skyrocketed since.

As housing prices in the U.S. have soared, Graceland's current value, according to Rolling Stone, exceeds $500 million.

Despite its high value, the Presley family has no plans to sell the property. Instead, they continue to generate income by opening the nearly 14-acre estate to visitors. Tickets range from $40 to $225, allowing fans to tour the mansion, relive Elvis's music legacy, and view his gold records.

Visitors from around the world still leave flowers outside Graceland in memory of Elvis and his daughter. They, as well as Elvis' parents, grandmother, and grandson are buried there.
