The world's richest man has thrown a seven-figure lifeline to former President Donald Trump's campaign, weeks after news broke that Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has raised more than $1 billion since announcing her nomination in July.

X and Tesla owner Elon Musk confirmed the $75 million dollar donation in an X post captioned, "The @America PAC is just aiming for common sense, centrist values."

The donation from Elon Musk, who endorsed Trump in July, was made to the pro-Trump American political action committee, which is working diligently to persuade swing state voters to support Trump.

Last week, the Super PAC offered a $47 payment to any swing state voter who signed a petition in favor of free speech and the right to bear arms, per The Telegraph.

Despite saying in March he would not donate to either presidential candidate, the Tesla CEO's recent contribution catapults him to mega-donor status for the Republican Party. In addition to cash, he's donating his time as he also announced a series of talks in Pennsylvania, another key battleground state, as long as they signed the petition and voted in this election.

Earlier this year, The Telegraph reported that Trump may give Musk a government position in the "government efficiency" task force, which will work to reduce federal spending.
