Elon Musk has criticized Germany for allegedly refusing to extradite a Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, the Saudi national accused of the deadly attack that occurred at a German Christmas market on Friday in Magdeburg.

The attack left five dead and more than 200 injured, according to the latest reports.

Al-Abdulmohsen, a 50-year-old doctor who moved from Saudi Arabia to Germany in 2006, is an ex-Muslim with alleged ties to Germany's far-right AfD party and wanted in Saudi Arabia on terrorism charges and is according to reporting by India Today.

Despite these allegations, Germany rejected Saudi extradition requests, citing asylum protections, India Today reported.

After the attack in Magdeburg, al-Abdulmohsen was arrested by police, who drew firearms at him on a roadway.

Elon Musk took to X to condemn Germany's decision to shield Taleb, calling it "insane" and stating that those responsible should be "punished severely."

"Whoever refused to extradite a murderer deserves to be punished severely," Musk wrote on X.

Musk's comments have added fuel to the political tensions in Germany, which is preparing for a central election after the collapse of Chancellor Olaf Scholz's coalition government.
