Elon Musk's Father Calls Him a Bad Dad: 'If Elon Hears This, He's Going to Shoot Me or Something'

Errol Musk, the father of billionaire Elon Musk, slammed his son's parenting in a recent podcast interview, claiming the Tesla and SpaceX CEO has not been present for his 12 children.

Speaking on the Wide Awake podcast, Errol criticized Elon's reliance on nannies and said his grandchildren struggled with basic life skills.

"No, he hasn't been a good father," Errol said bluntly. "The first child was too much with nannies and died in the care of a nanny. If Elon hears this, he's going to shoot me or something."

Elon's first child, Nevada Alexander Musk, tragically died at 10 weeks old from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Errol continued, saying Elon's five children from his first marriage—to Justine Musk—each had their own nanny and lacked independence. "They can't cross the road. We have to hold their hands across the road when they're like 14 years old," he claimed.

The former engineer also mentioned Elon's estranged trans daughter, Vivian Wilson, implying Elon's parenting was somehow to blame. "Elon's got to deal with it," Errol said. "It's a bit worrying." Elon has been publicly criticized by Wilson, who distanced herself from her father after turning 18.

Elon's relationship with his own father has also been tumultuous. "He was such a terrible human being," Elon told Rolling Stone in a 2017 interview. "You have no idea about how bad." Near the same time, Errol had a baby with his former stepdaughter, over forty years his junior, who was just four-years-old when Errol's 18-year marriage to her mother began.

Elon and his first wife prohibited their children from having a relationship with Errol, Ashley Vance wrote in her 2015 biography on Elon. Another Elon Musk biographer, Walter Isaacson, recalled Elon saying in 2021 that President Donald Trump reminded him of his father.

Recently, Elon has been toting his children to high-profile events at President Donald Trump's White House. Three of his young children—X, Azure, and Strider—recently attended a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

His ex, Grimes, criticized Elon for exposing their son X Æ A-Xii to media attention at a press conference. "He should not be in public like this," she wrote on his social media platform, X.

Elon Musk has not yet responded to his father's latest criticism.
