That's right. Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his family will embark on a LA-NY roadtrip traveling across 3,200 miles over a span of 6 days without using a drop of fuel. If successful, Elon Musk's endeavor will prove once and for all that the Tesla Model S is not only great for an electric car, but is a great car, full stop.According to Musk, his Tesla Model S will only receive charges from Tesla Supercharger stations, which will display Tesla's success in covering the nation with well-located charge hubs. Spread across six days, the nine-hours of charge will equate to just 1.5 hours per day. If timed well, Musk syas the charges will synchronize with typical tourist stops, including attractions and food stops, virtually erasing any inconvenience of electric charging.Although Elon Musk did not disclose the actual route he will be taking, the Tesla CEO did mention Musk didn't give any details of the route, but when he floated the idea in May, he mentioned making stops at iconic American landmarks and locations including Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, the Four Corners, Wyoming, Mount Rushmore, Chicago, and Philadelphia.Given that the Tesla must always be within driving distance from a Supercharger station, Inc. Magazine plotted a potential route that would allow Musk to drive from coast to coast:
Coverage of the trip has yet to be announced. That said, Elon Musk grinned as he spoke upon the endeavor: "It might end up being like some Chevy Chase movie." Expect to see pictures of the Musk family posing with the world's largest ball of twine as well as the worlds largest peanut statue.
