An elderly man has been accused of luring a 3-year-old girl on the pretext of giving her mangoes before allegedly proceeding to rape her in Delhi, India.
The elderly man, identified only as Durvasa, who reportedly frequently visited the victim's house, allegedly called the 3-year-old girl to his residence, saying that he wanted to give her some mangoes. When the victim's mother, who couldn't find her child, started looking for her and calling her name, the accused sent the child back home, India Today reported.
The incident came to light when the victim's health started to deteriorate later that night. Following this, the victim's family took her to a hospital for treatment. At the hospital, she was taken for a medical examination and it was revealed that she had been raped, Times Now reported.
Following the gruesome discovery, the victim's family filed a complaint against the accused with the local police officials. Based on their complaint, an FIR (First Information Report) has been filed at Govindpuri Police Station against the accused and the suspect was arrested for rape.
